Tamzin’s Story

“I came here on the Forging Futures course, I wanted to do painting and decorating. Getting work was difficult because I was shy, lacked confidence, but being in a group, working in a group has given me confidence.

Cutting trees, clearing paths, making compost bins. Learning new skills, I liked the hands on.

After the work placement finished they asked me to stay, do volunteering.

I decorated pretty much the full Lock House and enjoyed that because it’s what I want to do. With the boats, I’d never been on a boat before, nice and peaceful, I was nervous of steering at first, reversing is awkward, but it feels alright, I am used to it now, I’ve got the hang of it.” Tamzin
