Community Crew Course

Want to learn more about boats? Want to cruise the canals? Or are you considering crewing a community boat? Whichever one, this course is for you.


About:

Crew are the eyes and ears of the captain, part of the team that keeps a boat running smoothly and enjoyably.

This course is a great way to get into cruising and building both boating and life skills.

It also: ‘offers the candidate the skills and knowledge to act as crew on a community boat.’ (NCBA)


Details:

  • minimum age is 14

  • no prior experience needed

  • 20 hours total (split up)

  • learn all the basics of boating from knots to locks, engine checks to health and safety.

  • comprised of 7 units, a mixture of hands on and theory

  • training will be held on one of our canal boats

  • we are in walking distance from Leeds train and bus station.
